Casa Cacao
Casa Cacao is a project by El Celler de Can Roca that combines a chocolate workshop, store, chocolate bar (Bean to Bar) and a 15-room boutique hotel in a single building.
The elements that comprise its identity and graphic system are:
• Cocoa, the excellence of the ingredient, its origin, its qualities and is transformation into chocolate.
• The house, the historic building dating to the mid-20th century.
• The factory, the fact that the chocolate workshop is at street level, visible to everyone and in the same place where the chocolate is tasted and sold.
The symbol and visual system leverage the redundancy of the syllables that make up its name and express them in a monogram.
The paper used in the packaging of the chocolate bars and bonbons is handmade at the Capellades paper mill from a base of abaca paste mixed with the shells of the cocoa used to produce Casa Cacao chocolate. It is the cocoa itself that gives the paper its colour and texture. Each package is unique.
The building, the house, is also a key part of the Casa Cacao identity. The chocolate workshop, store and chocolate bar are at the street level. Above is a 15-room boutique hotel and a terrace with views over the old town of Girona.
The boxes of the some of the products transform into houses. An illustration of the house, full of everyday scenes, is adapted to the proportions of the box. The same is true of the website and other applications. An illustration of the house is used to explain the project and serve as its symbol.
